He believes it’s essential to understand a client’s whole financial picture to give tailored advice, and so he strives to build deep relationships with every family he serves.
His longstanding fascination with the financial markets led him to the trading desk at an independent investment firm in 2007. Starting his career on the eve of a global financial crisis proved to be an enlightening experience. Three years later, he became an investment advisor for a major bank in Vancouver. A desire to join a team environment at an independent firm led him to Plena Wealth Advisors of Raymond James in 2016. The move also enabled him to offer cross-border wealth planning to clients.
Jay earned a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in economics from the University of Oregon. He holds the Chartered Investment Manager designation, which signifies his ability to conduct discretionary portfolio management and provide advanced wealth management strategies.
He lives in his hometown of Vancouver with his wife, Sophie, and their young children, Ethan and Noah. Jay’s hobbies include golfing, entertaining his kids, and biking around town. He also stays involved in his community; he has served as a board member for First Tee and the UBC Golf Society, and has been the men’s club captain of the Shaughnessy Golf Club.
